Never, ever did I plan to have children, but even more far-fetched in my envisioned future was to confront pregnancy in a foreign country. Nonetheless, I fell in love and life surprised me with an extended stay along the Pacific Coast of Mexico, in my husband’s hometown. Included during this “stay” I experienced a blissful courtship, marriage, truly learning the language so that I could assist as a spanish translator becoming a legal Mexican resident (phew, that’s finally out of the way!), and then… a positive pregnancy stick. Wait, what?

In legal situations, a defendant has the right to have equal access to justice. However, individuals who have limited English proficiency - unable to speak or understand English sufficiently – present a common issue in court proceedings today.
To address this challenge, interpreters are required during trials. The presence and participation of court interpreters allows non-English speakers to engage in judicial proceedings. The task is more than simply providing a word for word translation but also ensuring that the defendant fully understands the proceedings.

Walking and Talking on my Treadmill Desk
The clients we work with at Translationz are extremely busy, overloaded and under pressure to deliver on short deadlines. I am often contacted late in the evenings with urgent requests. Our clients are located all over the world, in different time zones. Frequently, my day begins at 5:30am, when I touch base with our USA clients and finishes after 11:00pm answering emails and talking with European clients. We also provide interpreters and equipment for conferences; working long hours with event planners is the norm.
