Client: Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
Client Background: The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is committed to providing services that ensure all patients are heard and receive the best treatments, care and potential cures for cancer. Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is a world leading cancer research, education and treatment centre and Australia’s only public health service dedicated to caring for people affected by cancer.
The Project: Peter MacCallum engaged Translationz to produce a professionally translated falls prevention video to enhance patient safety and improve health outcomes. By ensuring non-English speaking patients understand and comply with fall prevention measures, the hospital can reduce the risk of falls and associated complications. Additionally, providing clear, culturally sensitive communication demonstrates Peter MacCallum’s commitment to inclusive care, building trust within the community.
Services Provided: Professional translation, Subtitling
Languages: Vietnamese, Simple Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Greek
Documents: 4-minute Falls Prevention video for patients
Challenges: The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre needed to produce multilingual videos to emphasise the importance of preventing falls in the hospital. By addressing the diverse languages spoken in the community, the videos aimed to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate and effective care and understand the information in the language they know best.
Solution: To address this challenge, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre partnered with Translationz to provide professional translations for multilingual subtitling in Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Italian, and Greek. Translationz translated the content and produced the final SRT files, which are publicly available on the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre's YouTube page and are continuously presented to patients.
Accomplishments: The project successfully translated an English Falls Prevention video into five languages. This effort aimed to reach non-English-speaking hospital patients, ensuring patients understand how to prevent falls. By conveying this crucial message in multiple languages, the hospital enhances patient safety and communication. The video is continually available and frequently shown, effectively preventing future falls.
