Jenny Hazelwood has worked as a Team Leader of Interpreter Services at the Queensland Children's Hospital and currently works as a Support Officer at Diversicare, Ethnic Communities Council Queensland (ECCQ).

Jenny has accumulated a wealth of knowledge working with interpreters in the health sector over the last four years. Prior to that, Jenny has over a decade of experience working with CALD communities in government and non-government roles.

Jenny has a passion for language analysis and application. She has great admiration for interpreters and translators and understands the many challenges they face, including employment barriers to building a full-time career, the challenges of language acquisition and more importantly maintaining currency and fluency in topics that are difficult for the monolingual speaker to comprehend. She knows all too well the phrase "use it or lose it" when it comes to language proficiency and the importance of continual language review and immersion. Her undergraduate degree majoring in linguistics, modern languages and cross-cultural communication in addition to a Graduate Certificate in English teaching will make this webinar one not to be missed. Jen's compassion and understanding of mental health and disability will bring a warmth and depth to the session that will help your work in the future.

Come and join the conversation and share your language and cultural experiences interpreting in the mental health and disability sectors because WORDS MATTER.

This is a free webinar and a certificate noting 10 PD points will be provided.
